We can quickly and effectively negotiate a parenting time agreement between you and your child’s other parent, even if you have been unsuccessful before.
We can also get court orders to prevent the other parent from interfering with your parenting time in ANY way. By law, the other parent is NOT allowed to schedule anything on YOUR court ordered parenting time schedule, unfortunately, this often fails to get enforced.
If you already have a court ordered parenting time agreement or a signed and filed stipulation and the other parent is not following it, this is a situation that should be immediately addressed, since this is most often a way for the other parent to undermine your parental authority.
Here are some of the things that are NOT ok:
- Scheduling anything on your parenting time without your consent (this includes church, sports, doctor, family visits, etc.)
- Arbitrarily changing the pickup and drop off times and locations
- Interfering with your time by making excessive phone calls to you or your child during parenting time
- Advising your child’s school that you are not allowed to have contact with the school or information from the school
- Moving out of jurisdiction (a county is a jurisdiction)
- Changing the child’s school IF you have legal or joint legal custody
- Withholding medical information or appointments from you
- Obligating you to extra expenses that are not court ordered (this happens a lot with sports activities). If there is a child support order, there is no automatic presumption that you must also pay more money because the other parent arbitrarily decided to enroll your child in extracurricular activities without your advance consent.
